Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering a grand piano in the attic. She was fascinated by the possibilities it offered. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music, not for a job or a hobby, but as an opportunity to improve. The Aksnes family advised her to compose. She acknowledges Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and Bjork as being her influences. After her mom said that her songs could not only help her gain fame, and also inspire others to see their value within the global community and see how they can benefit from the songs She decided to start performing publicly. The piano was her first instrument, at six. She began creating music after turning nine. Her family didn't be aware of this until she turned fourteen. The dream was never to turn into Aurora. The singer says that she simply likes creating music. She believes that music can help anyone feel better.
